Design Engineer Construct!®

Design Engineer Construct!® (DEC!) is a learning programme aimed at secondary-school students which has been expertly developed to create and inspire the next generation of Built Environment professionals. 

Training Qualifications UK is delighted to be partnering with Class of Your Own in the delivery of these programmes of learning which are available to schools across UK and around the world.

After years of research and development, DEC! is an accredited UK STEM programme, which is also offering young people a suite of qualifications at Level 1, 2 (equivalent to 1 GCSE and on Performance Tables) and 3. This programme is endorsed and supported by a growing number of highly respected industry leaders and associations, and works actively with education partners to provide a well-recognised progression route into work experience, skilled apprenticeships, further and higher education. How Does It Work?

Through a project-based approach, DEC! applies pure academic subjects to the latest construction industry practices. The result? Young people with real-world practical experience and employability skills.

There is little understanding of Built Environment professions and few young people aspire to a career in this important sector of the British and global economy. By getting involved with DEC! schools and industry can educate the future of construction and change the lives of young people.

Supported by industry leaders, professional bodies and progressive universities, DEC! delivers an inspiring programme that is up to date and in demand by the very people who will employ our children.

DEC1Classroom to Career

The beauty of DEC! learning programmes is that the skills acquired throughout the course are easily transferable to other subjects.

Integral to the activities within the DEC! programme is an understanding of numeracy and a requirement for good standards of literacy. Embedded within the learning tasks are opportunities to explore the need for mathematical knowledge by understanding how it is applied in the world of work.

Many of the students undertaking the Design Engineer Construct!® programme aspire to go to University, either via the traditional full-time route, or part-time via a recognised employer/apprenticeship scheme.

Class of Your Own encourage all their students to progress and work with some of the most progressive schools of Engineering, Architecture and the Built Environment to ensure that they are learning the most up to date syllabus in order to prepare them to hit the ground running in Year One.
